2025-2026 Indicator 8 Parent Survey for Families of Exceptional Children

The NC Department of Public Instruction, Office of Exceptional Children (OEC), invites parents, family members and guardians of children with disabilities to participate in the annual Indicator 8 Parent Survey.

Accelerated Graduation Pathway

Message for 8th Grade Families: State legislation establishes an accelerated pathway for students to be able to graduate from high school in 3 years. The 3-year accelerated pathway is offered as an alternative to the traditional 4-year pathway.

Parent Training Sessions

Wilson County Schools is hosting two parent workshops on Mon, April 27 focused on simple tools to help reduce problem behaviors in children and teenagers. Do you struggle to get your child to do homework? Feel like you’re repeating yourself? Or have a teen who seems moody and doesn’t communicate? If so, these workshops are for you.

NC School Report Cards

Each year, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction publishes performance data for each school on the North Carolina School Report Cards website. The North Carolina School Report Cards website is interactive and allows you to see details regarding school performance, school letter grades, growth measures and much more.

Dr. Ben Williams

The Wilson County Board of Education has named Dr. Ben Williams as Superintendent of Wilson County Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Williams is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, a role he has held since July 1, 2020. The Board voted to appoint Dr. Williams during a Special Board of Education meeting on March 25, 2026.

Inclement Weather Message

Mon., March 16 will be a Remote Learning Day for Wilson County Schools because of the threat of severe inclement weather. Staff members will be provided information regarding remote work options.

Please join us for the 2026 Wilson County Schools Career Fair on Sat., March 21, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 116 Lipscomb Rd. in Wilson (Darden Middle School). All of our schools and departments will be represented at the Career Fair and preliminary interviews will be held onsite. We are asking interested applicants to bring a resume and a recent transcript.

The online application process for the Wilson Academy of Virtual Education (WAVE) is now open for students who will be in grades 8-12 next school year. The application deadline is February 18. 

Inclement Weather Message

Thurs., Feb. 5 will be a Remote Learning Day for Wilson County Schools because of the potential for inclement weather overnight and into the morning that may cause unsafe conditions on roads tomorrow. This decision was made based on the latest forecast from the National Weather Service and in collaboration with Wilson County Emergency Management.

Wed., Feb. 4 will be a Remote Learning Day for Wilson County Schools because of unsafe conditions on roads and the potential for more inclement weather. Remote learning means that students will complete assignments at home and will not report to school.
